| near those lines kept that gunk from accumulating there. I noticed during the flush that there was an intitial period where the water seemed to clear, but as I kept the car running and got the car up to operating temperature more discoloration would appear as the gunk broke free inside the engine from the heat. The radiator was so contaminated that I ran the car for over 30 minutes with it removed and a garden hose in the inlet pipe and a trash bag with a hole cut in it taped over the outlet pipe to serve as a big funnel to my drain pan. Once I the water was clear, then I ran another 3 gallons of distilled water through it to try and cleanse out any impurities from the tap water before refilling with the water/coolant mix. Big pain in the butt for what should have been a simple procedure!
